Francis Scott Key/The St. Paul’s Schools

What Makes This Middle Grades Partnership

Summer 2023 launches the newest partnership between south Baltimore City’s Francis Scott Key’s (FSK) and North Baltimore’s St. Paul’s Schools.

FSK is a public Pre-K through 8th grade school in Locust Point, focused on developing the whole child. The St. Paul’s Schools is a preschool through 12th grade independent school located on a 120 acre campus in Baltimore County. St. Paul’s prides itself on a small-school environment with the opportunities that a large campus can provide.

Each Middle Grades Partnership program is wholly designed by teachers from a Baltimore City public school and its partner private school. All Middle Grades Partnership programs embody these principles:

  • Creative, exciting and experienced teachers from public and private schools leading each classroom
  • Rigorous and rewarding academic and enrichment activities during 150 hours of summer programming, with a strong focus on building skills in algebra, writing and reading
  • Projects during the school year that bring students from both schools together to better understand themselves and their city, and to make a difference in their communities.

“MGP is an awesome program. My oldest daughter has been in it since she was a rising 6th grader. This year she was a rising 8th grader and was sad that it was her last year. My youngest daughter was a rising 6th grader this year and was able to experience MGP. Of course, she loved it as well. The staff is great, the trips are great, and so is the curriculum. I love that they are able to learn, and build relationships, all while having fun. We love MGP!!” — 2019 Parent
